COIR Geological Relief Art is the work of artist Lauren Malone, who creates contemporary geological reliefs inspired by the quiet beauty of the Earth’s layers, combining her degrees in both Art and Environmental Science.
Using a proprietary blend of natural clays, mineral pigments, stone dust, sands, natural aggregates and more, each piece is built through repeated layering, carving, excavation, and erosion rather than traditional painting. The result is tactile artwork that feels less like a painting and more like a fragment of the landscape itself—inviting viewers to wonder, “Is this real, or did someone make it?”
Our original artwork is created for residential interiors, commercial spaces, and hospitality environments, offering distinctive focal points that bring depth, texture, and a connection to the natural world. COIR Studio also offers custom artwork and art selection consultations to help clients find meaningful pieces that complement their spaces.
From individual statement pieces to thoughtfully curated installations, COIR Studio brings an artful, earth-inspired perspective to interior environments.
“Most textured artwork is built on the surface. COIR Geological Studies are built in layers and then excavated, revealing a fictional geologic history. Each piece looks less like it was painted, and more like it was unearthed.
I want people to see my work and have to ask themselves, “is that…real?,” “is that a rock face?”, “Wait, was that made?…How?” And then lean in, study it, feel it, discover hidden areas only seen up close, and then step back and watch the shadows play”. - Lauren
